| Ways to Give to The Wheatlake Fund |

| |
Your generosity ensures that we can continue to offer the services and assistance that help cancer patients and their families in our community. Every dollar that you provide to The Wheatlake Center helps ease the impact a cancer diagnosis has on patients and their family and friends.
The Wheatlake Center is supported by the Wheatlake Fund [501(C)3], an endowment managed by the Mecosta County Medical Center Foundation (MCMCF). All gifts to the Wheatlake Fund are deposited in an account to earn interest. The Wheatlake Center is supported by these earnings. Donors to the Wheatlake Fund are creating a source of assistance that will benefit family, neighbors and friends facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis for generations to come.

Ways to Give Securities

There are two ways to make a donation of securities to The Wheatlake Center - by physical delivery of the stock certificates to MCMC Foundation or through an Electronic Transfer Authorization. Please notify Debra Jacks, Director of Planned Giving at 231.592.4327 or email her at djacks@mcmcbr.com of your intention to make a gift of securities.
A gift of appreciated securities held for more than one year may provide significant benefits to you as a contributor, such as:
- Providing a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift securities as of the date of transfer.
- Eliminating capital gains tax that would become due if you had sold the appreciated securities and donated the proceeds from the sale to The Wheatlake Center.
- Claiming your charitable deduction against up to 30% of your adjusted gross income. Any unused deductions can be carried forward over the next five years.
- Providing a way to help you to achieve your long-term financial objective of reducing your income and estate taxes.
If you have securities that have declined in value and are interested in donating them to charity, you may find it more advantageous to sell the securities first and contribute the proceeds to charity as opposed to donating the securities outright. This strategy should allow you to claim a deduction for both the loss from the sale of the securities as well as the charitable gift.

Make an Estate Gift

With a planned gift to The Wheatlake Center, you combine your desire to help cancer patients and their families in our service region with your overall financial, tax and estate planning goals. You will help cancer patients and their families - now and for years to come.
To tell us about the provision that you have made in your estate plan for The Wheatlake Center or for information about how you can include The Wheatlake Center in your estate plan, please contact Debra Jacks, Director of Planned Giving at 231.592.4327 or email her at djacks@mcmcbr.com.
